I think first impressions matter.

Not because they need to be perfect- quite the opposite, actually.

Some of my favorite people have introduced themselves with awkward jokes, oversharing, terrible flirting, or emails that started with "I've rewritten this three times already."

I'm far more interested in warmth, humor, curiosity, and people who feel easy to talk to than perfectly crafted introductions.
